Dear me, Love me

Custom jewelry isn't about owning something no one else has. It's about owning something that's actually yours. This is a difference most people don't feel until they're standing in front of a case of rings that are all almost-but-not-quite right. "Right" matters when you are making a thousand+ dollar decision.

GC came to us to design a ring for herself. She arrived with almost no background in fine jewelry and left, weeks later, a self-described pigeon blood ruby purist with a deep appreciation for rounded symmetry.

"I love rings, but can never quite find the one that I love in the store," she said. "When I found out Gabriela was designing, I was really excited. What I loved is that she didn't just focus on how the ring would look, but how it made me feel. She took what could be a complicated process and made it so accessible and fun."

That's the part of custom that's easy to underestimate - not the sketching, but the translating. We built mood boards, explored materials, talked about who she is and what a piece like this needed to say about her. We iterated. We scrapped things that were almost right, because almost isn't good enough when a ring is meant to carry something real. What she landed on: two pigeon blood red rubies set into a gently curved gold band, its rounded lines echoing the same symmetry she'd come to love in the stones themselves.

"Designing and creating my own ring represents me choosing to celebrate me," she said. "The ring I designed with Gabriela has become my favorite accessory, and I wear it every day."

Somewhere in that process, the ring stopped being an idea and became hers before it was even finished. That's what custom does. It hands you back an object with a story that starts with you.
